Tapantí National
Park is a mid-elevation forest in a valley with
waterfalls, a rushing river, abundant birds, animals
and flowers including hibiscus and many orchid species.
Orchids are found at any time of the year at this
diverse site...sometimes miniatures with blossoms
the size of a grain of wheat may be found attached
to mossy trunks of trees.
En route to Tapantí, we pass through the town of
Cartago, the colonial capital of Costa Rica and
site of the Basilica of our Lady of the Angels-the
shrine of the country's patron saint-and on to scenic
Orosi Valley. Depending on the season, this trip
may also stop at Lankester Orchid Gardens. Driving
time, each way, is about 90 minutes.
Includes: Transportation, lunch, park entrance fee,
Naturalist Guide.
